1. Introduction

Welcome to Champagne App. This Privacy Policy explains how MB "Champagne App" ("we," "us," or "our"), a company registered in Lithuania, collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our mobile application and our promotional website (collectively, the "Services"). We are committed to ensuring your privacy is protected and your data is processed strictly in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Data Controller Information:
Company Name: MB "Champagne App"
Country of Registration: Lithuania
Contact Email: privacy@champagneapp.eu

2. The Data We Collect

We practice data minimization across our Services, collecting only what is necessary:

  • Website & Waitlist Data: When you join our waitlist via our website, your email address is collected and stored securely within our Shopify platform. We also collect basic, anonymized website usage data via cookies.
  • App Authentication Data: We use Single Sign-On (SSO) via Apple and Google. We receive your basic profile information (such as your name and email address) necessary to create your profile. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email," we only process the randomized email address.
  • User-Generated Content: This includes your tasting notes, cellar inventory, the vintages you log, and the clubs you create or join within the app.
  • Contextual Data: If you choose to add location tags or note with whom you shared a tasting in the app, we store this as part of your tasting journal.
  • App Analytics and Usage Data: We collect pseudonymized data about how you interact with our application to help us fix bugs and improve the educational content.
  • Age Verification: We record your confirmation that you are of legal drinking age. We do not collect your exact date of birth.

3. How We Use Your Data and Legal Basis

We process your personal data for the following lawful purposes under the GDPR:

  • Consent: To send you launch updates and promotional emails when you explicitly join our waitlist. You can withdraw this consent and unsubscribe at any time using the link in the emails.
  • Contractual Necessity: To provide the app's core functionalities, such as saving your cellar inventory, managing tasting notes, and facilitating your private clubs via token invitations.
  • Legitimate Interests: To analyze website and app usage (via third-party analytics) to improve performance, debug issues, and enhance the user experience.
  • Legal Obligation: To maintain records of your age verification consent to comply with regional regulations regarding alcohol-related educational content.

4. How We Share Your Data

We will never sell your personal data. We only share data with trusted third-party service providers (Data Processors) who assist us in operating the Services. These include:

  • Website Hosting & Waitlist Management: Our promotional website is hosted by Shopify. Shopify acts as a Data Processor, meaning they securely store the waitlist email addresses and process basic web traffic on our behalf.
  • Cloud Hosting (App Database): Our application database is hosted by Supabase, utilizing secure servers located in Zurich, Switzerland. The European Commission has recognized Switzerland as providing an adequate level of data protection, meaning your data remains protected to EU standards.
  • App Stores & Subscriptions: We use the Apple App Store and Google Play Store to manage subscriptions. We do not collect or process your financial information; we only receive anonymous receipt tokens to unlock premium features.
  • Analytics Providers: We use Google Analytics to understand website traffic, and [Mixpanel / PostHog] to understand app usage. We configure these tools to prioritize your privacy and process data within the EU.

Note: Your invitations to closed app clubs are processed using secure tokens. We do not access your phone's contacts and process the email addresses of non-users to send these invitations.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your data only as long as necessary:

  • Waitlist Data: Your email is kept in our Shopify database until we launch the app and conclude our initial launch communications, or until you click "unsubscribe."
  • App Account Deletion: You can delete your app account at any time by sending email request for the deletion of your account and all associated data to help@champagneapp.eu.
  • Data Wiping: Upon initiating account deletion, your profile, tasting notes, cellar inventory, and club memberships will be immediately removed from our active database.
  • Backups: It may take up to 30 days for your encrypted data to be completely erased from our automated server backups.

6. Your Rights Under the GDPR

As an EU resident, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: Correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): Request the deletion of your personal data.
  • Restriction & Objection: Object to or restrict how we process your data.
  • Data Portability: Receive your data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@champagneapp.eu. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

7. Changes to this Policy

We may update this policy as we add new features or as legal requirements change. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via email (if on the waitlist) or within the app before the changes take effect.
